Bible Hour: We are continuing our study through highlights from the book of Acts. Join us from 9:30-10:30 am for this interactive Bible study where comments and questions are welcome from the congregation. We have seen the Apostle Paul’s masterful use of a creation apologetic to reason with the people gathered at the Areopagus meeting in Acts 17. In verses 24-25 of Acts 17 he introduces a Cosmological argument that God is the “uncaused cause.” In verse 26 he utilizes a Teleological argument namely that all things reveal a purposeful design, and in verses 27-28 Paul states a motion argument, reasoning that things are in motion have an “unmoved mover.” His tactics are a masterclass on building a bridge with the audience and then introducing the need for repentance and accountability to Christ because of the Resurrection (30-31).
We encourage you to come at 10:30 am and join us for coffee and snacks during our Fellowship Break which runs from 10:30 am to 11 am. This is a great time to meet and get to know the church members at GABC.
During our Corporate Worship Service (11 am to noon) Pastor Matt is currently preaching through Ephesians. We just started studying chapter 6, which follows on the heels of Ephesians 5:21 which is mutual submission within the church, one to another out of reverence for Christ. We were reminded that Christ sanctifies the virtue of submission by submitting to the Father as a necessary step in the process of redemption (1 Cor 15:28, Heb 12:2). Our faith should be pervasive and impact even our most mundane relationships, in our homes and at work.

Bible Hour We are currently studying the book of Acts together. Join us from 9:30-10:30 am for this interactive Bible study where comments and questions are welcome from the congregation. We just covered Acts chapter 9, where Saul’s conversion story is detailed. We see how God initiated a relationship with Saul while he was on a trip to arrest Christians, and we recognize that no one is beyond God’s reach. We also see Ananias’s initial hesitancy to obey God’s command but then we note his warm welcoming of Saul into the Christian family when he greets him warmly with “brother Saul.”
We encourage you to come at 10:30 am and join us for coffee and snacks during our Fellowship Break which runs from 10:30 am to 11 am. This is a great time to meet and get to know the church members at GABC.
During our Corporate Worship Service (11 am to noon) Pastor Matt is preaching through the book of Ephesians. In chapter 5 we are instructed by Paul to walk wisely and carefully, and that necessitates that we examine our own lives (Eph 5:15). We are instructed in 5:16 to “make the most of every opportunity.” Since time is a precious commodity, wasting it is a vice of our age. Instead, we need to optimize our valuable time and recognize ways we may be squandering it. We are also instructed to be filled with the Holy Sprit in v 18, maximally influenced by Him so that fruit is evident, as seen in lists like Galatians 5:22-26. Such virtues like patience, self-control and gentleness will stand out winsomely in our culture.

Bible Hour: We are currently studying the book of Acts together. Join us from 9:30-10:30 am for this interactive Bible study where comments and questions are welcome from the congregation. We just covered Act chapter 6 which discusses the institution of the office of deacons, to deal with material needs in the church. We also saw that the tactics of those who opposed Stephen, the first martyr, included lying and deception.
We encourage you to come at 10:30 am and join us for coffee and snacks during our Fellowship Break which runs from 10:30 am to 11 am. This is a great time to get to know the church members at GABC.
During our Corporate Worship Service (11 am to noon) Pastor Matt is preaching through the book of Ephesians. We have been learning about our new self in Christ and the “uncomfortably specific” ways Paul instructs believers. In chapter 4: 26-5:4 Paul reminds Christians that they need to “put off” our old self and “put on” the new self with detailed specificity. Paul lists the necessity to speak truthfully, to be angry and not sin, and to stop stealing as clear examples of practical change. Pastor Matt reminded us not to underestimate the power of our old self at work in us but challenged us to dispense truth and grace to ourselves and others. It is important to stay alert to the needs of those around us, as suggested in Eph 4:28-29, so we can avoid being self-absorbed.

Bible Hour: We are currently studying Feasts and Festivals in the Old Testament, and their relevance for New Testament theology and Christology. Join us at 9:30 for this insightful study.
During our Corporate Worship Service, Pastor Matt is currently preaching a sermon series on Ephesians: God’s Grand Plan. He began this study on October 26. We have seen that we are blessed with salvation (1:3) and chosen for holiness and adoption (1:4-6). We have been reminded that Christianity is the bestowal of diving blessing on undeserved people. Join us as we study this distinctively Christocentric book which repeatedly emphasizes what blessings believers have “in Christ” or “in Him.” How can we leverage the blessings that we have received from the Lord to help us when we are discouraged (Eph 1:3)? How can knowing that you have been chosen and predestined by God be encouraging and liberating for you (Eph 1:5)? Join us at 11 am for our sermon series on Ephesians.

We have been surveying 1 Kings during our Corporate Worship Service and Pastor Matt recently preached on chapter 12. We learned about the rashness of Rehoboam and how he had his mind made up and rejected good advice. We need to make the Word of God and advice from godly people central to our lives. We just have two more weeks in our survey of 1 Kings.
Pastor Matt plans to start preaching through the book of Ephesians on October 19. Please join us for our corporate worship service at 11 am.
During our 9:30 Bible Hour for September and into October we have been studying Theological Oddities and Curiosities, including Angels and the Antichrist. This week we will be learning about Dreams and Visions from the Bible. Next week, October 12th we will look at occurrences of Fasting and Fighting in Scripture.
